Of the ninety 550 spyders built, many are either hidden away in private collections or have been lost from the racing hey days of the 1950s until today still waiting to be rediscovered. The Porsche Museum has a travelling road show where a number of their spyders in the collection either participate in road events or become part of an automotive exhibition in a major city. There are many other spyders which are frequently entered into classic car rallies and races or are loaned out to feature at venues like the Peterson Museum. It is important that the passion for these unique cars is always ignited for past, current and future generations and that the stories from those who experienced these cars when the originally raced on the tracks is passed down accordingly and not lost forever due to those heroes leaving us.
