The brake intakes on LC-23-99 (chassis 550-0087) are factory intakes. The intakes were added by Jaime Rodriguea to CB-22-21 (chassis 0038) and FE-22-24 (chassis 0039). There are images of both cars with these inserts added.

I’m the son of a Portuguese driver that raced 3 diferent Spyder’s in the 50′s and the beginning of the 60′s. You can see my father in the picture of the second Spyder next to Fernando Macarenhas car (550-0038). Our car had the nºs FE-22-24 and was imported to Portugal at the same time as the CB-22-21. I don´t know the work’s nº of the FE and would like to get that info and also to know what happened to the car. Can you help me?

Our other 2 cars were the LC-23-99 (550-0087 ??) and the HF-23-70

Hi Rolf,

I have a book called Porsche Story by Julius Weitmann which was published in 1968 by Arco Publishing – a small size black cover book with silver foil (mine is missing the dust jacket), but it has quite a few photos of the Avus incident – I am sure this is the one you are referring to. I found it a number of years ago in an old motoring bookshop – a great find!

The pictures and video of Frankenberg going over the Avus edge in Berlin reminded me of a Porsche book I had in the 70s, with those photos in it. Would anyone know which book that was and if one can obtain a used copy?

My Father Bob Donner who recently passed away purchased this car new from Von Newman . I have many photos, but not sure who purchased car from him.. He sold in order to jump up to a RSK.

Jack was big on the racing scene between 1953 and 1959, starting out in a Jaguar XK120, then moving onto a Porsche 356 then finally a Porsche 550 – a great driver!
